After defeating Whitney in the Goldenrod City gym and consoling her to receive the Plain Badge, my journey continued north. Before leaving, I visited the flower shop next to the gym and received the Squirt Bottle from one of the girls. On Route 36, I used this item on the strange tree blocking the path, revealing it to be a Sudowoodo, and a nearby man rewarded me with TM08 (Rock Smash) for clearing the way. My path then led me to Ecruteak City, where I entered the Dance Theater and saved the Kimono Girl from a Team Rocket Grunt, earning HM03 (Surf) from a grateful audience member. Next, I explored the Burned Tower, where I encountered both my rival, Silver, and the legendary beast researcher, Eusine. After battling Silver, I fell through a weakened floor into the basement, causing the legendary beasts; Raikou, Entei, and Suicune, to awaken and flee.
