I Spent 72 Hours Editing 1,700 Photos of a Dead Hornet This video documents the journey behind a single, haunting image of a European hornet. Discover the technical and emotional reasons for embarking on a project that involved combining 1,700 exposures and dedicating over 72 hours to post-production, offering a deep insight into how a creative vision can pivot from perfection to a profound, uncomfortable truth. The core of this process is a technique I call "Pure Editing", an approach that prioritises manual, hands-on work in Photoshop to solve complex visual problems. It’s about staying honest with the subject, preserving the story of its demise, and using skill to enhance reality rather than replace it. Found by chance during a family holiday in Luxembourg, the hornet’s rapid decay inspired a new direction: to capture its faded colour and the visible signs of its death, creating an image that confronts the viewer with the fragility of life. This project pushed my Photoshop skills to their limits, forcing me to navigate everything from colour correction to restoring microscopic details by hand. The full 72 hours, 6 minutes, 32 seconds edit, condensed into 14 minutes, 25 seconds: jump to 15:59 to watch the transformation. ▶ Explore more creative work and connect: https://link.anenglishman.online/art-... 📩 For inquiries or collaborations: https://link.anenglishman.online/art-...
