When a new swarm arrives on your farm, it’s a great opportunity to expand your bee colonies. Successfully capturing and settling the swarm into a beehive box requires careful handling to ensure the bees accept their new home. Steps to Capture and Settle the Swarm Locate the Swarm* Swarms usually cluster on *tree branches, fences, or walls*. Observe their location and size before approaching. Prepare the Beehive Box Set up a hive box with empty frames and foundation to provide a suitable space for the bees. Adding drawn comb or a frame with honey can attract them. Gently Transfer the Bees* If the swarm is on a *low branch*, shake it gently over the box. If it’s on a *higher place*, use a bee brush or a container to collect and transfer them carefully. Ensure the queen enters the box*, as worker bees will follow her inside. Encourage the Swarm to Stay Place a small entrance block to prevent immediate escape. Sprinkling sugar water on the bees can calm them and encourage them to stay. Allow Bees to Settle Place the hive in a shaded area and keep it undisturbed for *24-48 hours
