Last week Garmin announced their new SmartCharts for use with the Garmin Pilot app. This replaces traditional paper procedure charts from the FAA or Jeppesen with a dynamic procedure presentation that adapts to the specifics of the procedure you are flying. They look good on the ground but I was eager to try them for real. This is a flight from Renton (KRNT) to Bellingham (KBLI) in the United States Pacific Northwest. It includes a departure procedure (SID), arrival and approach so it’s a great way to put SmartCharts through its paces. I hope you enjoy it. Please comment on your thoughts on SmartCharts. Pros/Cons? If you are a Foreflight user, would SmartCharts lead you to consider switching to Garmin Pilot? https://www.garmin.com/en-US/aviation... In these videos, my main goal is to share what it’s like to fly these procedures in a Twin Diamond. I hope you enjoy them. Please LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and comment if you do! Important – This video is for entertainment and information only. It is not intended to replace instruction by a qualified instructor. It is also not intended to be a formal lesson and does not replace study of approved FAA and other training materials. 2018 Diamond DA42 VI with G1000 NXi (Phase II) avionics. Certified for Flight into Known Icing (FIKI). Also flying with Garmin Pilot on an iPad Mini. One GoPro Hero 9, and two GoPro Hero 12s with RAM/mygoflight mounts in the cabin. Audio on a Deity PR-2 and headset cable
