Food Circle 1 aimed to develop small-scale mobile processing units that enabled the following: • High-quality fruit juices and puree production • Flexible production for different types of fruits • Practical and simple installation and operation on the farm(s) During the harvest period, the mobile processing unit at the farm should process a peak amount of fruits without quality loss. High-quality fruit/puree production should be achieved with downscaled, innovative technologies for low-oxygen juice/puree extraction and low heat preservation. The DIL Deutsches Institut für Lebensmitteltechnologie e. V. (German Institute of Food Technologies) taps new potentials daily and paves the way for innovations. With more than 175 member companies and 200 employees, the DIL operates as a research institute in food tech, analytics, sustainability and food data. The institute’s competencies and technical capabilities span the full range of food technologies. This expertise is implemented via the institute’s organisational structure, which is divided into interconnected research platforms and business divisions. The DIL supports its partners in the innovation process by forming a bridge between science and practice. DIL is a partner of the EU-funded FOX project (Food Processing in a Box).
