5 Beginner's Mistakes in Epoxy Resin - How to Avoid Them

Want to get started with epoxy resin, but you're afraid to do something wrong? Here are 5 most common mistakes made by unexperienced artists - watch this video and avoid the issues! 1️⃣ Wrong epoxy type. Not all resins are the same - it's important to know basic information about each type of epoxy to choose the right one for your future projects! Deep Pour epoxy is for large projects, Arts & Crafts is for small encapsulations, Table Top is for flood-coating surfaces 2️⃣ Wrong mixing ratio. This criterium is different for every type or resin - 2:1 for Deep Pour, and 1:1 for Arts & Crafts and Table Top! Keep in mind that the ratio is always resin to hardener. 3️⃣ Poor mixing. Make sure to mix slowly and thoroughly for 3-5 minutes, scrap the sides of your cup to get all the resin into the mix. You should see your epoxy go from cloudy to clear! 4️⃣ Incorrect temperature. The perfect temperature for resin curing is 22-25 degrees Celcius. Epoxy only cures in a stable environment! If it's too cold, it wouldn't cure fully, and too hot temperatures might result in bubbles. 5️⃣ Leaky moulds - use seal free silicone moulds for perfect results! If your resin is handmade, make sure to apply silicone to every single joint in order to prevent leaking.
