A beautiful manor house & small parcel of land came up For Sale. George Mottershead had a vision of creating a zoo without bars, a haven for exotic animals to be cared for. He moved his family to Oakfield House & they started to build a zoo. There is infact a mini series called OUR ZOO on Amazon Prime, what shows you the story of the making of the Zoo. They did have their struggles along the way.
