Contender; Evolving as a Due... Tim "DaHanG" Fogarty, former elite Quake Live and Quake Champions dueler and now retired, is the star of the 407th Episode of 'Reflections'. This is episode two of two about DaHanG's career. DaHanG came from the Quake 2 scene and made his name in Quake 4 playing on the duel circuit of 2007 most notably. Very quickly he was a top prospect and even played in a WSVG final against toxjq, the dominant force of that time. When QuakeLive came around DaHanG moved into it and played for many years. In late 2009, DaHanG won the IEM American Championship, beating rapha in a Bo5 reverse sweep final. DaHanG would routinely make play-offs of events but his deep runs were more here and there. In late 2010 he made the final of Dreamhack Winter where he was beaten by Cypher. He lost to Cypher again in the QuakeCon 2012 final. In 2013 a loss to evil denied him back-to-back QuakeCon finals appearances. In 2014 DaHanG again made the QuakeCon final and in familiar fashion was beaten by Cypher. Outside of the biggest champions in the game, DaHanG stood as one of the better players and who could contest seemingly everyone. In Quake Champions, DaHanG had some success early on. He finished fourth at QuakeCon 2017 and won Dreamhack Winter to end the year. In 2018 he played in the Bo1 format QuakeCon duel championship and finished runner-up to clawz. DaHanG would manage some top four finishes in early Quake Pro League finals. As well as his duel success, DaHanG was invested in team modes and was part of a dominant Sacrifice 2v2 line-up with fellow countrymen and Team Liquid team-mate rapha. DaHanG's last result was a top eight run at QuakeCon 2021 and he has since retired from competitive play. In part two, DaHanG discusses the differences between Quake Champions and past games, his win at Dreamhack Winter 2017, the QPL era, why he chose to retire and if he ever dreams about Quake. This interview was recorded on the 25th of May, 2024. ► Time-line of topics discussed: 00:00 Quake Champions differences from past quakes 04:35 Theory aspects 06:04 Style differences 07:58 Original scoring format 10:23 Peaking and practicing 12:59 Moving to Europe? 13:55 Dreamhack Winter 2017 16:09 People's fascination with coming second 18:15 QuakeCon vs. clawz 19:45 RAISY 23:11 k1llsen 25:26 rapha's process of dominance 28:18 Cypher 31:02 Earning potential 32:34 Not being among the best 35:42 Quake Champions requires better aim? 38:19 Retiring 40:04 The itch to compete 42:55 Dreams about quake? 43:51 Experience of attending events 45:20 Would he like to be a designer? 47:22 Coaching? 49:00 Which match is the essence of DaHanG? 50:25 Final words First appearance: • 'Reflections' with DaHanG (Quake/OW) Subscribe this channel to get access to perks: / @thooorin ► Check out bite-sized Thorin on my new clips channel: / thorinclips ► Follow me on social media: / thorin / thooorin / thooorinofficial ► My written content: https://iamesports.substack.com/ ► You can discuss this content at my Discord server: / discord ► This video was kindly supported by: Frisky Matt, Pugnatio, Rajcula Ahmed Hadjou Jensen Goh Tobias Bernasconi Animosity touken_ Tosh Special thanks go out to JerCkysMiNi0n. #DaHanG #rapha #Thorin
