Sharad - An Original Composition | Piano Inspired by Raga Bilaskhani Todi | Khyati Bharedwaj 'Sharad' is an original piece composed by me. It is the secong track from my debut album, 'Komal Nishad,' released on February 2nd, 2025. Komal Nishad is a Classical Crossover album comprising of works for the Piano corresponding to each Indian Season, written in modes inspired by Indian Ragas - all featuring the Swara, 'Komal Ni,' the lowered seventh degree. 'Sharad' is inspired by the Hindustani Raga Bilaskhani Todi, attributed to Bilas Khan, son of the legendary Miyan Tansen. 'Varsha', the first track from this album, draws from Raga Miyan ki Malhar, which is said to have been created by Miyan Tansen himself. To me, Bilaskhani Todi evokes the spirit of the Indian Autumn, a season of celebration (with festivals like Dussehra and Diwali), but also a time of renewal and comtemplation. This composition hopes to invoke the latter feeling, urging the listener to introspect and reflect while absorbing the slight chill that settles in with sunsets. Thank you so much for listening!
