After the attack on a Muslim Bangle Seller, Tasleem Ali, by a group of Hindu Vigilantes on Aug 22, in Indore, a small village - Biraj Mou in Uttar Pradesh is gripped by fear and anxiety. Normally during this festive season, bangle sellers from this village venture out of their homes to the neighbouring states to sell their wares. Unfortunately, this season they have chosen not to do so even at the cost of losing their livelihoods. They say they are scared because religious profiling of their trade has commenced. They are being questioned by their Hindu Customers as to which community do they belong to before a sale. Activists say this is a targeted attack on the economy of Muslims.
