How to Fatbike

How to Fatbike! (some of these are #FAKENEWS) In this episode: Seriously, don't ever walk a fatbike trail...k? thanks! Anyway, in this episode, I talk about some technical aspects of how to fat bike. The first time I bought a fat bike I did not enjoy it till I figured out these 3 critical tips to enjoy fat bike. Fatbiking is a massive amount of fun, you just need to make sure you start out right. I also included some footage of a great trail ride with Bike Team and Diablo Cycling mates riding up at Snowkraft in Sturgeon Bay. UNBELIEVABLE PLACE YOU MUST VISIT IF YOU ARE IN DOOR COUNTY!!! Tip #1-Ride Groomed Trails Tip #2-Get the tire pressure right (not sinking into, but riding on top of the snow) Tip #3-Get Studs and get set up tubeless by your local bike shop right away. Fat Biking takes a while to get the hang of, but it is instantly fun. Sliding through turns is a blast. And crashing is usually pretty painless. I biffed a jump on this ride and even with my separated shoulder I was just fine, bounced back up and caught the group. The ride video was shot at about -2 degrees, the little bit around my house was shot at 0 degrees. You can see my tire digs into the little “trail” I walked, so I should increase my pressure…you want to be riding on top of the snow, not cutting it with a tire. Oh and just to be clear… LOW PRESSURE IS BEST RIDING IN THE COLD IS BEST FOR THE TRAIL NEVER NEVER NEVER WALK ON A GROOMED TRAIL (google “postholing”) I do not discuss proper clothing in this video, that is coming soon! STUFF: Analog gauge that I use: http://amzn.to/2Cnp4fz Air compressor: http://amzn.to/2DBKwdF You need this to convert the air compressor to a bike pump: http://amzn.to/2Cs4dFs Studs: http://amzn.to/2DCL4QC Stud tool: http://amzn.to/2CsAeNC Studded tire: I have never owned these, but for reference: http://amzn.to/2CeGvQ5 Studded tire AND tubeless set up: Your Local Bike Shop The Weatherneck Balaclava: Local Bike Shop? I love racing and riding bikes, so this is really about having fun. Doing these Racecast videos can be time-consuming, but mostly I like it. It's only fun if I know someone else cares.
