SCOTLAND’S PREMIER SPIRITUAL RETREAT CENTRE Nestled in 17 secluded acres at the foot of the Campsie Fells around 16 kilometres north of the City of Glasgow (Scotland’s working Capital City), Schoenstatt Scotland has become for many a haven of peace and refuge from the bustle and clamor of the outside world, a true sanctuary and simple retreat. The Retreat Centre was originally called Ballencleroch house (the place for the clergy) a name whose root is in mediaeval times. Many of our guests attest to Schoenstatt Scotland’s capacity for changing the pace of life; allowing you to drop your shoulders, breathe deeper, more relaxedly, offering time for woodland walks in our own extensive grounds, pausing at some of the little bridges over water on the estate or just letting the atmosphere and blissful quiet wash over you. Schoenstatt Centre & Facilities The Schoenstatt Scotland Centre was opened in 1989 and is frequently used by individuals and groups. The House and Shrine are open throughout the year. Disabled access is naturally accommodated in the grounds and other facilities and the walks are also suitable for disabled access. St Joseph’s Cabin is adjacent to the shrine. It has three upstairs bedrooms and on the lower floor is housed our repository for gifts and religious items from the centre and also a lovely walk in café were a selection of freshly ground coffee’s are available every day of the week. Our Aim As one of Scotland’s Premier Retreat and Pilgrimage Centre’s our aim is to craft a ‘unique,’ personal, ultimately enriching and memorable experience for each of our visitors, guests and retreat-ants. ‘A retreat is our most glorious interval; one were we have no compunction but to throw the door of the heart open to let Jesus and his Mother in, the safest thing you can do in life is to place your retreat in their hands, ask them to bless it, and remove from it all imperfections’.
