For the longest time I've wanted to get into CNC, so when TwoTrees reached out at the end of last year to ask if I wanted to review their machine, I decided to take the plunge. As a beginner to CNC routing, however, I had to teach myself CAM and get some CNC experience under my belt before I was able to say anything of value about the machine, which was part of the reason this video took so insanely long. Speaking of the devil, the CNC I received was underwhelming, to say the least. The epitome of what our western world calls 'cheap Chinese junk' is the most fitting description that comes to mind. I don't enjoy bashing somebody's product, but in this case there was no other option if I wanted the review to stay honest. Anyway, here's a link to the agreed-upon review policy this video was based on: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e0pG... As promised, the detailed specs for this machine, since I don't believe in videos rattling off what sparse detail is provided by the manufacturers: Overall size: 42cm width, 35cm depth, 28cm height Rail straightness: less than 0.2mm of bend Total spindle runout: 0.2mm (needs fixing) effective real-world axis travel: X=290mm, Y=178mm, Z=42mm Power supply: adjustable in increments; 12V, 15V, 16V, 18V, 19V, 20V, and 24V at 5A max. Spindle power: 60W, rated 12-36V Controller board: Makerbase MKS DLC32 V2.1 (machine does NOT support wifi or SD in stock config, needs reflashing firmware) Firmware: Grbl_Esp32 Stepper motor drivers: A4988 Maximum rapids: ~1500mm/min at 12v or ~2000mm/min at 24V Average real-world engraving speed: 100-200mm/min Spindle speed: ~4150 RPM at 12V or ~8300 RPM at 24V Engraving/cutting accuracy: very dependent on material and DOC, within ±0.02mm best case but up to ±0.25mm in my tests As it stands, I cannot recommend you buy this machine, but to be honest, my hopes that any of the competing 3018 CNCs in this price segment from the likes of VEVOR are any better quality-wise aren't high. If you want a machine that's actually usable, you probably have to look at the $500+ range. That said, here are links for it anyway, mostly just because that's a part of reviews: https://bit.ly/4dVhQyM If for some reason you still want to buy this thing (which, again, I cannot recommend), you can at least get up to 7% discount if you use code "CH3018" at checkout I also found that machine on Aliexpress (affiliate link): https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oEK... And on Alibaba, where it seems to be quite a bit cheaper (for some reason, in the pictures it has a different controller board, though; no idea what's going on there and whether it'll still ship with the MKS board regardless): https://www.alibaba.com/product-detai... If you just want the Makerbase DLC32 controller board for a DIY CNC, it's fairly reasonably priced on Aliexpress (affiliate link): https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_ooU...
