The car was imported from Japan in 2006, and purchased by a GTR enthusiast in Alberta, Canada. I purchased the car from him. The car had the Nissan Service done in Japan at 84,000 km, were the timing chain was replaced. The previous owner, replaced a ball joint. The Japanese Carfax shows that the car was registered in Miyagi, Japan and was a one owner car as it was only registered once from 1990-2007 with a service inspection in May 19, 2002 and another May 4, 2004 @ 84400 km at which time the timing belt was changed. The car was imported from Japan into Canada by The Skyline Shop in 2006 with 84400km. Which was typical of their process back in the day. They would find clean cars service them and export them to Canada. Shelby Rutherford purchased it from them that year. Shelby didn't really do much to the car performance wise. Other than the Apexi intake, the cd player / head unit, and alarm. The alarm was set up as a turbo timer and unfortunately was tied to #5 injector harness. He drove it in summers only. The car had a miss in 2009ish. And his father Steve sent it to Calgary as one if the wastegates weren't working. Steve says that they put different turbos on it but he wasn't able to find the bill. If you check out the Speedpro Grande prairie Facebook page. You will see Steve’s 79 Mercury Zephyr land speed car. Cool solid guy. Anyways. The car was hauled back and the turbos didn't fix the miss. The coils and MAF are the next go-to on these cars. They replaced the coils and the MAF but it still wasn’t running right. Shelby gave up and parked the car in their family race shop in 2010. The car now had about 95,000 km. In the spring of 2017 Shelby was decided to part with the car and sold it to Dave Metituk the foremost Canadian GTR Expert. I interviewed him and he can be seen in the attached YouTube video. Dave did a restoration / service to the car in the summer of 2017.
