As you know in World of Warcraft saving up enough gold to buy your mount at 60, let alone at level 40, can be a chore. Without a strong server economy or on a fresh server your chances are pretty slim of getting your mount right as you ding 40. And there are many reasons to buy a mount. At level 40, a 60% speed boost is a huge help for leveling, especially for classes like Priests, Warlocks, and Warriors who don’t have movement speed increasing abilities like Travel Form with Druids, Ghost Wolf for Shaman, or Aspect of the Cheetah for Hunters. And at level 60, having a 100% speed boost is a huge help whether that be for gathering herbs, veins of ore, or running away or chasing down other players in PvP. You definitely don’t want to be that guy who doesn’t have an epic mount in the battlegrounds. So today I’m going to walk you through how you can get your mount for 0 gold. Now there are a few obvious ways you could get your mount without doing any farming and getting it for essentially 0 gold. After we learned at Blizzconline 2021 that there’s a character boost available which will give us a level 58 character with a level 40 riding skill mount, we could say that’s a 0 gold way to get a mount. Alternatively, you could even go buy gold from some gold seller and not have to do any farm. But I’m not going to be talking about any methods that involve opening up your wallet, or opening up anything else for that matter, in order to get your mount. I’m going to talk about a method that took me only about 20 minutes and after I was done, I had the gold secured to go buy my mount. That’s probably some of the fastest gold I’ve ever made. Now you can do this method as early as level 30. We are going after an item that sells for anywhere from 120-300 gold. There is a 100% chance you will get this item through this method. And that item is the Schematic: Flash Bomb. There is a very important detail however. You must be an engineer. It doesn’t matter what skill level, just that you have the engineering profession. Our Journey begins in one of two places: the auction house, as any gold making video should, or The Vile Reef. We will need to get 9 Blue Pearls. These are on the auction house for about 1 – 2 g each. This will cut into your profits by 9-18 gold if you choose to buy them, but could save you some time, since the other method will be diving for these pearls. If you can’t afford the pearls, and you’re not a warlock or undead, buying a water breathing potion will help when getting these pearls yourself. Ah The Vile Reef. Home of the elite quests that most people don’t do. Like Encrusted Tail Fins. Who wants to bring those all the way back to The Shimmering Flats in Thousand Needles? We don’t need to kill any murlocs here though, we just need to pearls. They are located at the positions shown here on the map. Once you’ve gathered the 9 pearls, then head to the Badlands. We’re looking for a goblin by the name of Rigglefuzz. He has the quest “Pearl Diving” Turn in the 9 blue pearls and you’ll see if you’re an engineer that there’s a follow up quest: Flash Bomb Recipe. This quest is where Rigglefuzz notices that you’re an engineer and just hands you the recipe for the flash bombs. This is the item we’re after. As you can see this item is going for about 148 gold in the US and 309 gold in the EU. Not bad at all for the time spent. This is a little-known secret way to make fast gold because most people 1. Don’t bother to do this quest, and 2. The people that do decide to do it aren’t all engineers. The only other way to get this schematic is to defeat Mekgineer Thermaplugg in Gnomeregan and he has only a 0.6% chance of dropping the schematic. But why Flash bombs? Well this works on druids who are in bear, cat, or travel form. That’s pretty awesome. Not only that but they can be used in Zul’Gurub for the Tiger Boss, or the Panther boss. Obviously, we’re all so good at WoW at this point it’s not necessary, but you could also use it to peel a hunter’s pet off you. And what’s pretty awesome about Flash Bombs is that it doesn’t require engineering to use them. So these are selling for about 2-3 gold each as well. #tbc #wow #classic
