See more architecture and design movies at http://www.dezeen.com/movies World Architecture Festival 2012: Zaha Hadid's MAXXI National Museum of the XXI Century Arts is the focus of this movie about the World Architecture Festival 2012, as programme director Paul Finch explains why the jury unanimously voted for it to win the festival's World Building of the Year award in 2010. The museum was one of the first prominent buildings in Rome to be designed by a female architect and the jury were impressed with how its plan flowed into the existing fabric of the city, as well as the strength of the competition-winning design that required few changes during construction. MAXXI was also the winner of the RIBA Stirling Prize for the greatest contribution to British architecture in 2010, although its future currently hangs in the balance after its funding was severely cut by the Italian government last month.
