This is a Motormouth couple car review of the updated 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 compact electric SUV. What’s New for 2024? The VW ID.4 has a new performance drive unit for 82 kWh models delivering greater horsepower and range. There’s a new available 12.9” touchscreen with backlit sliders and a more intuitive climate control interface with a revised infotainment menu. The ID.4 also has a new shifter position and revised steering wheel layout The ID.4 has RWD and AWD options with a smaller and larger battery available. The VW ID.4 AWD model we are driving has 335 horsepower and an 82 kWh battery with 423 km/263 miles of range. The base VW ID.4 RWD model with 201 horsepower has a smaller 62 kWh battery with 332 km/206 miles of range. There’s also a VW ID.4 RWD model with the larger 82 kWh battery, 468 km/291 miles of range and 280 horsepower. The VW ID.4 offers plenty of different trim levels and it comes with some great standard features including, a 5.3” driver display, a 12” touchscreen with navigation, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, wireless charger, a 6-speaker audio system, manual front seats with height adjustment, cloth and leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and Volkswagen ID.Drive. In the US, a heated steering wheel is not standard.
