Day 13 (26 Feb 2017) - Closing Mass with Procession presided by Archbishop William Goh Dedication Celebration @ Cathedral of the Good Shepherd The newly restored Cathedral of the Good Shepherd was dedicated on 14 February 2017 at 7pm, on the 120th anniversary of the Consecration held in 1897. This was followed by a 2-week celebration of daily activities at the Catholic "Mother Church" of Singapore. Thousands participated in this joyous occasion. Learn more about this at http://cathedral.catholic.sg/dedication . “You are the light of the word “ Mt 5:14 Archbishop William Goh presides over the Dedication Closing Mass at 5.30pm which was followed by a Candlelight Procession of the Blessed Sacrament. This special Mass is to bring together all the of celebration and to reaffirm and cherish our history of decades of service to the poor and needy; and a renewal of our commitment to build a vibrant Church in our archdiocese, so that we can walk into the future with the New Light of Christ, our Good Shepherd in our hearts. Just like our Catholic pioneers – the light of Singapore, who came before us; we lift our prayers to God to ask for His continued blessings so that we today can carry this light to the world. "... those who hear or view these broadcasts should be aware that, under normal circumstances, they do not fulfill the obligation of attending Mass. Visual images can represent reality, but they do not actually reproduce it.(177) While it is most praiseworthy that the elderly and the sick participate in Sunday Mass through radio and television, the same cannot be said of those who think that such broadcasts dispense them from going to church and sharing in the eucharistic assembly in the living Church."
