This story is by Nadiya Hussain winner of The Great British Bake Off 2015. It is a story of a child overcoming anxiety which is a subject very close to Nadiya's heart, as she lived with this from a young age. This beautiful book, illustrated by Ella Bailey, is a wonderful testimony to what can be achieved even though at times things are difficult. If your child suffers from similar feelings, there are different strategies you can try. One I tried with a client was to draw their worry monster, giving the worry a name, (Name it, to tame it.) can help to reduce it's power. There are many things you can do with it after, each case depends on your child; sometimes ripping it up and throwing it away can help, sometimes older children are able to articulate how it makes them feel and then tell the monster, or whatever they have drawn that represents their feeling that it can not hurt them.
