Sonora's Black Irish Band perform their traditional Irish jig sets. In 1993, the band came up with the idea of performing Garryowen together with the famous Irish Washerwoman. Since that time, many other groups have followed the Black Irish Bands arrangement. Band members: Patrick Michael Karnahan is performing on melodeon, James Dean Nelson on banjo, and special guest David Rainwater is featured on fiddle. Garyowen is said to have been written in the late 1700s. It was brought to America by Irish immigrants and was performed by Irish units in the American Civil War.
