This Friday, come bring your flute and join in with our fun Southampton flute choir for beginners and for anyone who used to play the flute and whose flute is feeling a bit dusty and forgotten. Piccolissimo is a flute choir for anyone with a flute from beginners up to Grade 5 in the Hampshire area. Tell your flute playing friends, and bring them along too! We want flute ensemble playing to be accessible to everyone. We play simple pieces and provide an opportunity for less experienced players to practice ensemble playing which helps develop skills such as sight reading, playing in tune, and playing in time. Parents/carers of younger players are welcome to wait and listen to the group play, seating is available. Piccolissimo runs every Friday during term time from 6-7pm at the Immaculate Conception Church Hall, Portswood, SO17 3SB. You must be able to play some notes and read music. The group uses piccolos, concert, alto, bass and contrabass flutes. Flautissimo members are usually at least Grade 5 standard, and include adults and young people alike. The group provides a unique opportunity in the area both for school/college age players who may wish to look for more ensemble experience, and experience playing other types of flute, perhaps with a view towards music college, and for adults to join a smaller, dedicated orchestra. If you are of Grade 5 standard or above you are invited to join Flautissimo, our main flute choir that rehearses from 7-9pm on Fridays at the same venue.
