Painting the sea - and the story of Cantre'r Gwaelod

For my final MA exhibition, I've produced a series of paintings inspired by the Ceredigion coast. I've been particularly interested in the story of Cantre'r Gwaelod. It's a cautionary tale about the sea inundating the land -land that used to lie to the West of Aberystwyth, which is now underwater. Observing the way water moves, as waves flood the shore, has informed the way I move paint and ink across the canvas. In the paintings I attempt to evoke waves flooding, submerging, inundating - the sea rising and covering the land.
