With so much hype surrounding this new Mono box set, we had to see what it was all about and compare it to the original Mono release. We played these records using a true mono cartridge: the Ortofon Cadenza Mono. Within Music Room 2 both versions sang as we compared the first couple of albums of the box set to the original mono pressings, and spoiler alert: the new box set is worthy of owning as it sounded better to both Michael The Greek and my ears. More top-to-bottom body, weight, and texture, leaving behind the thinness and lack of bottom extension the original copies possessed.
