WALKING IN MANDALAY: Full Walking Tour at Kuthodaw Pagoda. 4K HD

Let's delve into the fascinating world of Mandalay, Myanmar. 🌟 Explore on my walk the Kuthodaw Pagoda, also known as the Royal Merit Pagoda, or the "world's largest book", it is situated at the foot of Mandalay Hill. Here's what you need to know about: 1. Historical Significance: Built during the reign of King Mindon, this Buddhist stupa is a testament to his commitment to merit and spirituality. The pagoda is renowned for housing the world's LARGEST BOOK—a remarkable collection of Buddhist scriptures. 2. Architectural Marvel: The stupa itself, gilded and majestic, rises to a height of 188 feet (57 meters). Its design draws inspiration from the "Shwezigon Pagoda" near Bagan. 3. The "Book": Within the pagoda's grounds, you'll find "729 kyauksa gu (stone-inscription caves)". Each cave contains a marble slab inscribed on both sides with a page of text from the Tipitaka, the entire Pali Canon of Theravada Buddhism. These inscriptions form the world's "largest book", preserving ancient wisdom for generations. 4. My Walking Tour Experience at this Place: As i explore Kuthodaw, take in the serene atmosphere and admire the intricate carvings. The "star flower trees" emit a jasmine-like fragrance, creating a delightful ambiance. Families often picnic under these trees, weaving star flower chains for the Buddha. 5. The Hidden Gems at this Pagoda: Don't miss the "34 brick zayats (rest houses)" surrounding the pagoda. An ancient tree, believed to be 250 years old, graces the southwest inner terrace. 6. Post-Annexation Era: After British annexation in 1885, Mandalay transformed. The walled city became "Fort Dufferin". Yet, this magig place remained a beacon of spiritual devotion, undeterred by historical shifts. 7. Visiting Details: Location: Mandalay, Myanmar Opening Hours: Daily, 6:00 AM - 10:45 PM Explore this beautiful Pagoda on my walk, immerse yourself in its wisdom, and capture the essence of this sacred place during my walk. 📜🚶‍♂️ For more information, you can visit the official [Kuthodaw Pagoda website](https://kuthodawpitaka.org/).
