Ben Rosenblum's original composition, "The Bell From Europe," inspired by a poem by Weldon Kees. Recorded live at Jazz at Kitano in New York City on February 29th, 2020. This performance was the New York City debut of Rosenblum's larger ensemble, the Nebula Project. The concert featured JQ Whitcomb on trumpet, Jasper Dutz on bass clarinet, Rafael Rosa on guitar, Ben Rosenblum on piano and accordion, Marty Jaffe on bass and Ben Zweig on drums. Filmed and edited by Kevin Jiang, with additional filming by Matt Joseph Pugh. About the Nebula project: The Nebula Project assembles some of Rosenblum's favorite musicians in New York City to explore original, world-infused compositions and arrangements, with a unique ensemble featuring doubling on bass clarinet and accordion. The repertoire features renditions of music as diverse as Bulgarian choral music, Leonard Bernstein and Neil Young, in addition to Rosenblum's original compositions, which have influences from around the world. The project's debut album (and Rosenblum's third album as a bandleader), Kites and Strings, is set to be released in August 2020.
