Kaiga Bouda / Nour / Osa Tchour-To With «re:Orient», we bring together at a crossroad the deeply rooted traditions of Pansori and Persian music and we reimagine new directions and musical landscapes where, each of us, while keeping its identity and roots, converge toward the others. We create a land where minds and souls encounter and stories from both cultures respond to each other. This work proposes a new sound and vision from the meeting of these two «Orient» with their millenarian musical heritages and sophisticated cultures. The dialogue between Pansori and Persian musical modes, where the microtonality is the common ground, and several rhythmical cycles in both traditions, from simple to very complex, becomes a fertile ground for us to play around and to create sounds and music. The diversity of musical instruments, from the Daegum to the setar, the kanun, the double bass and the large variety of percussions from Korean, Persian and world musical traditions bring to this work a very large and rich palette of sounds and expressions. The inspirations and sounds from nature are also an integral part of our vocabulary, as we aim to maintain and reinforce our relation to the nature.
