Amos Korczyn, MD, Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel, discusses the concept of cognitive reserve, which is often referenced to explain why some individuals with significant brain pathology, such as amyloid plaques, do not show signs of dementia. Cognitive reserve is not something that can be directly measured but is instead a theoretical explanation for the discrepancy between clinical symptoms and underlying pathology. At CONy 2024, Prof. Korczyn will take part in a debate on the usefulness of cognitive reserve as a term, discussing its validity to better understand its implications. This interview took place during the 18th Annual Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy 2024) in London, UK.
