A tight-knit community in Jackson County is grieving the loss of Officer Matt Juniper, described by Police Chief John Robinson as the "ideal officer"— compassionate, fair, and dedicated to service. Nelsonville native and father of a one-year-old, Matt Juniper, died after a Hyundai crashed into the back of a golf cart he was riding in at 2 a.m. on Saturday. The collision happened on South Pennsylvania Avenue near E. 6th St. in Wellston. Officer Brant Derrow was driving the golf cart when a 17-year-old rear-ended the two officers. Chief Robinson told ABC 6 Derrow is home from the hospital Monday after he was life-flighted to a West Virginia hospital.
