Eastern Counties Motor Club Cine Archive (062): A Gentle Stroll Around The Paddock.

On a sunny Sunday in June what could be more pleasant that a gentle stroll in the Norfolk countryside. Here you can take in the sweet sounds and fragrances missing in everyday life. As you do so you can stop with chat to those you meet along the way. This particular saunter took place in the Breckland of Norfolk in 1960. The sweet sounds were of highly tuned engines, combined with with the subtle yet distinct fragrance of petrol fumes, hot oil and even hotter brake linings. All-in-all the recipe for a perfect day out! Every year the Eastern Counties Motor Club held their prestigious E.C.M.C “100” Trophy Race Meeting at Snetterton. Thankfully two club members, Dr. Alex Sherlock and Norman Perkins were there to capture the action on film. Unfortunately you will have to imagine the sounds and fragrances yourselves!
