Webinar Biomechanics behind gait analysis hosted by Elin Hernlund, DVM, PhD, Diplomate ECVSMR, CMO and co-founder at Sleip. Elin is a veterinarian specialising in equine biomechanics and orthopaedics. She is the head of the Locomotion laboratory at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and one of two founders of Sleip. Elin is passionate about motion in horses both at work and in her private life (where dressage training takes up most of her time). Elin has worked in clinical practice at the teaching hospital and with research since her graduation as a vet in 2008. In 2016 she defended her PhD thesis in equine biomechanics. Since then she has focused her research on AI methodology in animal motion analysis. Elin Hernlund has published more than 40 research articles and has written chapters in several scientific and popular science books about lameness assessment technology, biomechanics of body conformation and sport surfaces for equestrian sports. In this webinar we covered research behind the technology, discussed how to interpret data, talked about case studies, and of course answered some questions. 0:00 - Intro 1:15 - Introduction of the webinar 2:40 - Elin Hernlund presents herself and some background to gait analysis 7:10 - Is gait analysis useful for equine veterinarians? 10:00 - Sleip's story 15:00 - Biomechanical background 29:15 - Introduction to the Analysis video 35:30 - Introduction to the individual stride graph 36:25 - Push-off asymmetry 44:00 - The range of motions affects on the data 47:00 - Introduction to Asymmetry types graph and variation in strides 50:30 - Introduction to the gait analysis plots 55:00 - Answering questions
