0:00 Introduction 0:28 We Forgot Something 1:00 Under The Cabin 2:30 Inside the Bathroom 3:40 Hot Showers 5:41 The Next Project 7:08 Learning More Than Expected We built a simple bathroom under our elevated tiny cabin to make off-grid living more practical and sustainable. Using a composting toilet, rainwater collection system, and on-demand propane hot water heater, we finally solved the one thing our cabin was missing. We thought the tiny cabin was finished. We had built the first deck. We had built the outdoor kitchen. We had even built a small micro cabin before that — learning as we went, board by board, weekend by weekend. Eventually the elevated tiny cabin stood where all of those early ideas used to live. From a distance, it looked complete. We could cook. We could sleep. We could sit by the creek and watch the seasons change. But the longer we stayed, the more we realized we had missed something important. Not something glamorous. Not something impressive. Something practical. In this video, we build a simple bathroom under our elevated tiny cabin — a small, intentional space that made the difference between visiting… and actually living here. The setup is straightforward: • A basic composting toilet system • A small shower • Rainwater collected from the cabin roof into a 55-gallon barrel • An electric pump and on-demand propane water heater • Just enough power and light to keep things functional No septic install. No complicated plumbing. No overbuilt systems. Just simple solutions that allow us to stay longer without adding more than we need. This project isn’t about luxury or extreme off-grid living. It’s about reducing friction. It’s about learning what actually matters when you’re trying to live simply in a small space. Over time, this bathroom led to other projects — the elevated wraparound deck, the stairs down to the creek, the small refinements that slowly make a place feel settled instead of temporary. We’re not chasing less for the sake of minimalism. We’re building carefully. Intentionally. At a pace we can understand. If you’re interested in tiny cabin living, rainwater collection systems, composting toilets, simple hot water setups, or just figuring out what “enough” really looks like — we’re glad you’re here. We’re still learning. Still refining. Still building. And it didn’t take much. Just enough to stay. — #tinycabin #simpleliving #cabinlife #offgridliving #rainwatercollection #composttoilet #smallcabin #intentionalliving #tinyhouseinspiration
