In this chemistry tutorial video, you will learn about Q, the quotient, which is really just the number you get when plugging in INITIAL concentrations (or partial pressures) into the equilibrium constant expression rather than equilibrium concentrations (or partial pressures). We can check if we are at equilibrium at any point by plugging in the initial data to calculate Q. If Q = K, then we are at equilibrium. If Q does not equal K, then we are not at equilibrium and the reaction is moving either forward (to the right) or in reverse (to the left).
