How is it racing a Cyclocross World Cup, and how is it possible to make it to the starting line of the world’s best Cyclocrosser at all? In a certain way dutch Cyclocross rider Gosse van der Meer is a connecting link between the professional cycling sphere and the broad field of local cyclocross riders. Although beeing a pure „pro“ attending every obligatory race, Gosse uses every chance to race everything else his UCI racing calendar is allowing. Gosse is all over, we’ve seen him at bigger local races, we’ve seen him racing at national series aswell as at World Cups. But what’s the difference between those different racing classes, and what are the actual requirements to make it to a World Cup? We accompanied Gosse to the UCI Cyclocross World Cup in Bern (Switzerland), tested his skills as a reporter for the interested and tried to find out what it is all about.
