Lufthansa Trip Report flying from New York to Frankfurt onboard one of the Lufthansa A340-300 (in Premium Economy Class) on a perfect summer day. A comfortable flight from New York to Frankfurt onboard the Lufthansa Airbus A340-300. Lufthansa is one of the last operators of the A340 in the world, and as they announced they plans to phase them out completely by 2028, it is time to start trying their different cabins. So today we fly on the LH A343 Premium Economy. After some exploration, planespotting and visit to the Lufthansa Lounge at JFK Terminal 1, we boarded the Airbus A340-300 that would take us over the Atlantic back to Europe. After many attempts, we finally had perfect weather for a night departure in New York. The views of the city, combined with the 2 engines on the wing, were just amazing. However, during the taxi, the captain informed us that we were number 17 for takeoff. We had to wait 1 h 10 min on the ground, and we even shut down 2 engines to save fuel. The Sunrise took place over the Atlantic. For the very first time in the channel's history, I completely mis-calculated the Sunrise time, and when my alarm woke me up, we were already in complete daylight over the clouds. Around 1 hour later, we reached Ireland. From there we continued to the UK, France, Belgium and, finally, Germany. We landed in Frankfurt ahead of the schedule after a beautiful approach, About the onboard service, today's flight confirms what I experienced on recent Lufthansa flights: the service has improved. A lot. Does that mean they are now the best of the best? No, but because they were at the very bottom. Now, with the new warm meals, proper salads, and tasty desserts are definitely back in the game. There were 2 services in Premium Economy: a full meal after takeoff, and a cold breakfast before landing in Frankfurt. Now it is your turn! Have you ever flown with Lufthansa? How was the experience?
