A vitamin A deficiency can also be a cause.  In many cases, diabetics will have problems with the eyes, such as: • Retinopathy • Cataracts • Glaucoma • Macular Edema • Foreign body sensation (a feeling that there is something in the eye when there isn’t anything there)  With insulin resistance or a high blood sugar situation, the tear glands can stop producing tears.
