Youth is Currency: Why We're Afraid to Age

Few things are as prized in our society as youth. Youth is currency. The younger you are, the more valuable and attractive you're considered to be. Ageism negatively impacts adults in the workplace and the entertainment industry and Hollywood. By the way- does it even matter how old Alexa Demie is? We're constantly shown hoe "awful" it is to be old, and rarely the positives of aging. Has our obsession of youth created a society-wide fear of being old? Why is our perspective of youth so heavily flawed that we consider people in their 30s old? Do other cultures have this same fear of aging? Does life get better after our 30s? All studies point to yes. It's important to remember that our age is something we can't control, so it's hardly an achievement. No matter how young or old we are, we should make the most of our lives- while we still have them.
