Quinzee Snow Cave | Winter Camping Adventure

Our 1st Winter Camping Adventure together and it was Amazing! Packed with more than we really need we find our way to the mountains and reach an altitude of approx. 1800 m. Here we finally find enough snow to build a Quinzee snow shelter. At an amazing spot with a perfect view over the snowy mountains we shovel snow and shovel snow and then, we shovel some more snow. The snow shelter is large enough for both of us and both of us have the same thoughts... Will this roof hold the night? How heavy is this thing? Will we get out when it collapses? (with our arms in the sleeping bag, maybe ...) For a winter camping trip in the mountains, delicous burgers grilled on our little campfire is not a typical dinner. Luckily we brought along some firewood on our sleds because we are at the tree line and there is hardly any firewood to be found. By the way, the sleds are useful for going up and having fun sledding down at the end. We have a lot of fun and enjoy the time in a very calm and relaxing environment. The large number of visible stars was incredibly beautiful. There is much to exlore and unexpected things happen always. This makes such a trip a great microadventure with lasting memories. To get out of the comfort zone of daily life, is to get in your personal comfort zone of satisfaction and awareness. Try it out - it's amazingly important to experience and learn new things.
