If so, there are three additional features you may consider. One, solar shades. Two, a ventilating skylight. Or three, Velux Active. The benefits of a shade, it allows you to reduce light and heat gain at peak times during the day. A few of the options you have for the shades is you have a light filtering option and a room darkening option. To operate these shades, you have three options. You have a manual option, an electric option, and a solar option. The solar option is the only one that qualifies for the 26% federal tax credit. The second possible skylight feature is a ventilating skylight. Adding ventilation to your skylight allows heat and smells to escape. Also it allows fresh air flow through your house. Similar to the shade, there's three ways to operate the ventilating skylight. Manual, electric, and solar. The solar option qualifies for the same tax credit as the solar shade. The final skylight feature is Velux Active. It connects to your Wi-Fi and the weather app, and in peak heat times during the day, it will automatically shut the shade, reducing the heat gain in the home. Also from a ventilation standpoint, when humidity rises in the room of the skylight, it will automatically open, reducing the humidity inside of that space, most commonly in the bathrooms. In addition to that, if rain is in the forecast and the skylight is open, it will automatically shut that as well. Due to the energy-efficient automations of this feature, it also qualifies for the 26% federal tax credit.
