Nearly four years on from the government decision to end the sale of non-zero emission heavy commercial vehicles by 2035 and 2040 depending on weight, this segment of vehicles remains some 14 years behind passenger cars in the transition to zero emission, thus begging the question of whether we are fast running out of time. While the availability of zero emission truck models isn’t the issue, questions remain over charging infrastructure, total cost of ownership and the fit between use case and technology. This panel will discuss what needs to fall into place sooner rather than later if these heavy-duty workhorses are to successfully transition to zero emission.
