http://www.scissorhands.info In this Scissorhands Fix It video, Ashley and David demonstrate how using a 15 tooth layering / texturising scissor will not only save you time with your haircut, but give you a much better result and finish creating layers without lines or cut marks. For more information about Scissorhands and about finding the right hairdressing scissors for the haircuts you want to do - http://www.scissorhands.info Hello, I'm Ashley Howard from Scissorhands and welcome to our "Fix it" videos. They're very simple, they're very short, but they will show you how you can fix everyday problems that you come across in the salon. We're going to show you the tools and the techniques. Hello and welcome to our next video. This is Kim who I met in the street this morning who kindly said that she would allow us to cut her hair for her. We've got about 20 minutes. If you have a look across at Kim's hair you can see that she's got the classic marks that can sometimes appear when you cut long layers by using a traditional solid blade scissor. What we're going to do today is we're going to use the 15 tooth layering scissor again. Well, David is - and he's going to quickly work around in a normal way through the sections. I'm just going to get that - there, that's the layering scissor and we'll show you how that works. Here we are at the start of our long layered haircut. David is going to start this second section. He's already cut the first section, so simply takes that vertical section, lifts it at 90 degrees and as you watch now, he cuts 1... 2... 3... and he's finished removing the length, but leaving a very very soft effect in those layers and he's worked his way around as normal. Now we're moving on to the final part of the back section of Kim's hair. You can see this area here where those lines from the solid blade have caused that effect, so David is now going to take that vertical section Not doing anything technical, he simply lifts the hair around at 90 degrees using his 15 tooth layering scissor and he's going to cut once, twice, 3, 4 times and comb the hair down. He's then going to carry on, working as normal through those vertical sections using the layering scissor. Again, he will cut one, two, three times and this last section that we show you, he's going to do this one in slow motion, so you really can see how David cuts and then slides out. So he's going to do one cut, and slide up, two and slide, three... that's it. We'll come back when these layers are finished to show you the result. David just pointed out something really important in Kim's hair which often happens when you actually start to cut a client's hair and that is that these top layers here... it's quite a bit of weight in here compared to the bottom area and what I like to do is to take out some of that bulk to layer it through a little more and this is how we're going to do it. That only goes in about 3 inches 2, 3 4 cuts, again at the vertical, but this allows us to remove that weight and layer through the hair. We'll do one more section to show you that, and you simply work around in 90 degrees through that top layer, again from about 3or 4 inches, 1... 2... 3. So we finished now using the layering scissor again to cut Kim's layers. You instantly see that we've lost all those straight marks from her hair. You'll also see where David used the six and a half inch blade to cut that beautiful crisp line into Kim's fringe. So from a hairdresser's point of view, we hope we've helped you fix a couple of everyday problems that we come across. From a client's point of view, what do you think of your hair Kim? " Yeah, it's very nice. I love it". Good, thank you very much. Hi, I'm Ashley Howard from Scissorhands and thank you for watching our "Fix it" video series.
