In the process of making this video, it was really hard to find in my collection records that were of the Near Mint status. I must have rummaged through many of my shelves, just to find two "decent" examples. Very Good Plus (VG+) examples were somewhat easier to find. For me, it is often a newly opened shrink-wrapped record, since many indie records have a slight noise at the beginning and end of the record. In the case of Classical music, it is better to under-grade, since there are many super silent passages. If you listen closely, you can hear a few soft pops in the quieter passage. That goes too for any "quiet" record: Folk, Country, really any genre. Very Good records, I never buy, but people wind up selling them as VG+, or the super annoying VG++++++++++++ label. As said before, it's better to under grade and state the flaws up-front to the seller so there are no surprises. Good- The example I used was actually labeled VG+ by a seller on discogs. I realize that sellers don't have the time to play every record they sell, but if the spindle is heavily damaged, then it should at least warrant a "test" play of each passage. Groove wear drives me bonkers. Poor: In this example, there were some clicks, and one skip. (Did you notice it?) While the record didn't sound too bad, what true collectors really hate are skips-and this record has it. Again, always be up front with the seller about this record's faults. The records itself were only graded in the video, since the covers can be better judged from the given grade through a---clear picture on the Internet.
