The fans, mostly female, surrounded the singer while he arrived the airport. Despite being under the protection of twenty security staff, Yamashita could hardly move through the crowds. Yamashita, also known as Yamapi - a nickname given to him by his fans - is in Hong Kong to promote his first Asia tour and his new album. The singer will be holding a tour from January to May 2011 across Asia, including Tokyo, Osaka, Hong Kong, Taipei, Seoul, Busan and Bangkok. Yamashita first shot to fame in the television series "The Park of Ikebukuro West" in 2000 at the age of fifteen. He is also the lead singer of pop group News. Since his musical debut with News, Yamashita has had 20 consecutive singles reach the top of Japan's Oricon chart. His solo singles "Hold Me, Senorita," "Loveless" and "One In A Million" also made it to the top of the chart.
