Business Spotlight: Cali Coffee - Major Business Award

Whether residents are in need of a quick coffee or a dose of positivity, Cali Coffee is committed to making Cooper City smile. Located on 11050 Griffin Road, the drive-thru coffee shop offers customers a wide range of beverages to choose from including hand-crafted coffees, refreshers, and even pup cups for furry customers. Owners Craig and Rose Avera opened the first Cooper City location in June 2021 with the purpose of making people smile through both their drinks and their attitude, a mission they first brought to life at their original location in Hollywood, Florida. “The most rewarding part of Cali Coffee is just making people happy – being a positive part of their day when they come here,” said Rose Avera. “We obviously lift them up with some caffeine, but we also say something encouraging or positive to make them smile.” Originally from Oregon, Craig Avera worked in the coffee industry in high school, where he discovered his passion for the business. After moving to California and meeting his wife, Craig developed the concept for Cali Coffee and ultimately decided South Florida would be the perfect place to bring the brand to life. Since its inception in 2018, Cali Coffee has continued to thrive. The second out of 17 locations established, Cooper City has become the busiest location throughout Florida - a success the owners attribute to the city’s welcoming residents and family-oriented atmosphere. “We love Cooper City. Everyone in the city has been so supportive of Cali [Coffee] and we feel like we’ve really connected to the community,” said Rose Avera. Craig Avera echoed those sentiments, emphasizing the personal connections the business has built, “I feel like anywhere we go, like, you know, you recognize somebody, a customer or a face or a crew member,” he said. “It’s really fun to be in those kinds of communities, especially because you feel like you have more of a personal touch, more of a personal connection to all of our kind of awesome customers here.” As Cali Coffee prepares to open 12 additional locations throughout Florida, the heart of the business for the Averas remains the same – providing excellent customer service while creating a welcoming, uplifting environment. “There’s only two of us, so you just have to try harder to continue to have that same community aspect, and we kind of pride ourselves on trying to keep that going," said Craig Avera. “Every store that we open, we try to integrate as much as we can into that community and make a positive impact.” Through passion, consistency, and positivity, Cali Coffee continues to leave a lasting impact in Cooper City.
