Week Commencing 29th June 2015 Every year the Lau Gar Guardians set a challenge for students to test their skills and determination. This year’s challenge, set by Pete Hornby, is to complete a series of 8 routines that make up a total of 5000 Kung Fu techniques. Test out if you can achieve the 5000 within 90 minutes. All techniques are taken from the Lau Gar syllabus or the summer course. Completion of the challenge will enhance your power when performing Kung Fu. Taking part in the challenge will not only benefit your Kung Fu, you will also be raising money for charity by getting sponsorship. All money raised will go to the Lau Gar Trust charity, which works to promote and improve the learning of Lau Gar. In this video Sifu Pete Hornby demonstrates the techniques for the Guardian Challenge 2015. Pete is assisted by Sifu Alec Clark and Gil Houlston. The techniques are: Exercise 1 (0:03): 10 x 1 punch, 10 x 2 punches, etc. up to 10 x 10 punches then back down to 10 x 1 punch Exercise 2 (0:52): 40 x Kay Bon Sau Fa Exercise 3 (1:20): 100 x Shaolin Stamps Exercise 4 (1:40): 40 x End of Jeun Sau Exercise 5 (2:15): 50 x Kick Sequnce (Tsin Tak, Tsin Sau, Wang Tak, Hou Chang Yuen Tak or Ngau Lim Toi) Exercise 6 (2:45): 50 x Block Sequence (Bong Sau, Rolling Fist, Stamp Palm, Elbow, Finger Strike) Exercise 7 (3:10): 100 x Walking Techniques (Spear Hand & Punch, Double Spear Hands & Double Punches) Exercise 8 (3:35): 100 x Hung Ha (with an extra palm strike) GRAND TOTAL: 5000 Techniques More details & sponsorship form are available here: http://www.laugar-kungfu.com/guardian...
