Northern Pacers going into storage

The time has come! The slow cull of Northern's Pacer trains has begun. On Friday 29th and Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December 2019, 9 class 142s moved from Heaton depot to Worksop reception sidings for storage and inevitably scrap. It is expected the Pacers will be collected for scrap over the coming weeks and months and driven under their own power to various scrap yards throughout the UK with the entire fleet gone by some time in 2020. There will be several other moves like these over the coming months, however it is unlikely I will be able to catch them. The units ran in groups of 3 over 3 days under their own power from Heaton to Worksop, they entered Worksop station then the driver changed ends to drive them into the storage sidings. I caught the Friday and Saturday moves at Worksop station and Sunday's move at York. They ran as follows Friday 29th November 2019 142025, 142022 and 142016 Saturday 30th November 2019 142037, 142052 and 142064 Sunday 1st December 2019 142088, 142093 and 142096 While many will be happy to see the back of these trains, I absolutely love them. On a more practical note, there is severely over crowded trains which are crying out for more carriages while these sit in a siding which begs the question are they being sent away too soon.
