On October 1, China’s National Day, Chinese President Xi Jinping issued a warning to Taiwan. In his address, he said Beijing must "deepen cross-strait exchanges and cooperation" and "firmly opposes external interference.” The warnings come at a time when Beijing is stepping up efforts to isolate Taiwan diplomatically by repeatedly denouncing countries that allow Taiwanese officials to visit.
