Swimming with Manatees in Crystal River FL - Bird's Underwater

One of the coolest wildlife experiences we've ever had! We booked a 6:00am tour with Bird's Underwater who are located right on the water in Crystal River (and happened to be right next door to where we were staying at the Paddletail Lodge). Luck was definitely on our side for the entire morning, starting with the weather which saw a cold front blow in the night before our swim, ultimately providing us with a ton of manatees who had returned to the springs in Crystal River for warmth. On top of that, our group was big enough that we were separated into 2 different boats. Now I'm sure that the people on the other boat also had an amazing morning, but I feel pretty confident that ours was better haha. There were only 4 of us, and our guide Adam, who is also a professional underwater photographer, really provided such amazing guidance and had so much passion about the manatees the entire time we were out. We wound up spending the vast majority of our time in the water just outside Jurassic Spring, and had a dozen or two manatees all to ourselves. They were so playful and engaging. I was honestly taken back with how much they interacted with us and seemed to really enjoy hanging out with us. Would 100% recommend swimming with these friendly majestic floaty potatoes if you ever have the chance to, and our experience with Bird's Underwater was incredible. Everyone we interacted with, from the staff at the meeting spot to Captain Will and Adam on our boat, was phenomenal.
