On January 17, 2016, the Transitway between the entrance/exit at Albert Street/Empress Avenue to west of Bayview Station was closed down for LRT conversion. As a result all bus service would rerouted to existing streets travelling parallel to the Transitway, which is Albert Street-Scott Street corridor. West of Bayview Station, halfway between Bayview Station and Tunney's Pasture Station, a new temporary entrance/exit was built to allow bus access between Scott Street and the Transitway. As well, Lebreton Station and Bayview Station were relocated to temporary platforms on Albert Street. And finally, existing right-lanes along Albert Street and Scott Street were temporarily converted to bus-only lanes (except for vehicles making a right-turn or access a residential driveway). This detour was very straight forward to implement as there would be no impact on customers (aside from slightly extra travelling time required). However this detour was also controversial due to the amount buses travelling next to neighbourhoods each day. This particular detour will only be in effect from January 17, 2016 to June 24, 2016 as the next phase of the detour would require buses to remain on Scott Street between Scott/Merton and Tunney's Pasture.
