Incredible road trip from Kabul to Bamyan, Afghanistan with tea, lunch and Gholghola Hotel check-in.

Today is our first full day in Afghanistan and we are super excited. We get up early at the Park Star Hotel here in Kabul. It is a fabulous hotel with a beautiful courtyard. We head to breakfast and I almost walk into a mosque by accident. We get a really nice window seat for our first daytime view of the city of Kabul Afghanistan. The hotel has a really nice breakfast consisting of some local dishes and a really nice chicken dish with some eggs. The highlight of breakfast was their delicious oatmeal mixed with mangoes. It was fabulous. after breakfast we head back to the room and gather our gear to go out and meet up with our driver and guide. On the way out we stroll through the lovely gardens at the Park Star hotel, There's also a beautiful fountain and a flag display. We meet our driver and guide and proceed out of the city of Kabul through the busy streets and by the big roundabout with the huge globe in the middle that you may have seen. By the way, there are no videos of the Taliban checkpoints or security facilities. Filming them is strictly forbidden. That being said, we found the Taliban to be very professional and friendly at all times, and we felt extremely safe the entire time. On the way out of town we stopped at a gas station which was fun to see. The gas there costs about $4 a gallon. The next roundabout we passed through is the one that has the giant apple in the middle. Further, outside of Kabul we encounter dozens and dozens of areas of road damage from IEDs placed during the war. Halfway to Bamyan (Bamiyan) we stop for a cup of tea and tour the rest stop which was very fascinating. We proceed on from the rest shop and drive through some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen in my life. For this part of the trip, I busted out my insta360 camera which produced amazing videos. After a long journey, we arrive at the Gholghola Hotel in Bamyan, Afghanistan. By the way, the security at these big hotels is absolutely unbelievable. After checking in we head over to lunch at the Shamama Restaurant which was really really good. I had a kabob which was delicious. For the afternoon we head over to visit the Buddhas of Bamyan in the next video.
