In this Curling Weight Judgment and Communication video, Competition Coach Matt Bean explains the "3 Point PRESS" drill. In my experience, the only way that we get better at judging weight is by calling out the weight with conviction during practice and games. I believe that calling out weight helps to create the neural connections required to improve our weight judgement. If you watch the pros, they are constantly communicating weight to the player in the house. The only way the curler in the house knows how to call line is if the sweepers tell that person what the weight is! Incorporate this drill into your practice and do it in games and you will find that your weight judgment and confidence will improve drastically in a short amount of time.
